Douglas Dakota Mk. III, Cockpit Section

This Dakota was built in the USA in 1944, and flew across the Atlantic (via the Azores) to the UK. It served with No. 233 Squadron RAF from February of that year. The Squadron was heavily involved in airborne operations around D-Day and Operation Market Garden.

The Jet Provost was the first basic jet trainer in the world to go into service. The T5 was the final development of the Jet Provost and a total of 110 were produced for the RAF. The first was handed over to the Central Flying School on 3 September 1969.
