Avro 691 Lancastrian of Flight Refuelling Ltd, 1949

The Avro Lancastrian was developed from the Avro Lancaster heavy bomber. It was primarily used as a transport in RAF service. Flight Refuelling Ltd Lancastrians were used during the Berlin Airlift of 1948-49 to ferry fuel into the city.

The Avro Lancastrian was a long-range transport version of the Avro Lancaster bomber. The first were converted in Canada for Trans-Canada Airlines. G-AKDR was originally one of those converted in Canada.
