Dakota - Control locks
Film in which an RAF Douglas Dakota transport aircraft crashes on takeoff due to the aircraft’s elevator control locks remaining in place. The importance of following correct procedures is emphasised.
An RAF Douglas Dakota Mark IV transport aircraft of 77 Squadron is seen on the ground during preparations for flight. Aircrew board the aircraft, failing to notice that the aircraft’s elevator control locks have not been removed. The pilot discovers on takeoff that the elevator controls are not functioning and the aircraft crashes. The narrator then explains how the accident would have been avoided through adherence to the correct procedures.
