A Bristol Belvedere helicopter rehearses for the placing of the spire on the new Coventry cathedral. The helicopter lifts a mock-up of the spire and places it on the airfield.
Film taken at RAF Odiham shows a Bristol Belvedere twin-rotor helicopter during training flights before the placing of the spire on the new Coventry cathedral. The Belvedere, flown by Wing Commander John Dowling, commanding officer of 72 Squadron, is seen lifting a mock-up of the spire and placing it upright on the airfield. A mock-up of the top element of the spire is lifted and placed on a scaffolding structure.
